Utilizing Relay South Dakota’s free technology services can help connect you with your loved ones in ways you’ve never imagined. Through relay services, you can contact people around the world any day or time of the year by dialing the toll-free number, 711. Here are how some of the options work.
Text Telephone (TTY)
Hard-of-hearing callers can type their conversations for fellow callers to read, and a relay operator types back the hearing caller’s responses.
Voice Carry-Over (VCO)
Hard-of-hearing callers can speak to a hearing person directly, and a relay operator types back the hearing caller’s responses for viewing on a text display.
Callers with speech disabilities can speak to fellow callers via a relay operator who vocally relays responses, asking the caller to repeat statements as needed.
Hearing Carry-Over (HCO)
Callers with hearing capabilities and speech disabilities can type responses to fellow callers via a relay operator who vocally relays responses.
